This poppy was originally spotted in Casa Stucky, Udine, Italy. I could not resist making mosaic out of the images that I took during my stay at Casa. This mosaic pictures a dreamy scene of poppies in the garden, one of them in full bloom with more on the way.
”Birds of Paradise: Sunbathing Duo”,
20x23”, stained glass, grouted, interior only.

These two Birds of Paradise mosaic flowers are bathing in the sunlight! Work on this mosaic started from taking a photo of flowers on my visit to California's Santa Barbara. They grew in the garden at the place I was staying in. Every morning the Sun would strike these flowers showcasing their saturated oranges and reds. These colors could only be captured in a mosaic! But first I made a few watercolors of these flowers figuring out the movement and composition. Watercolors have been translated into two mosaic pieces. Enjoy!
