When the spring arrives I take a lot of photographs and make many sketches of blooming plants. There is a trick to painting poppies - they don't last that long in a vase, therefore, a lot of prep work needs to be done prior the painting. In order to create this portrait of a poppy I drew it multiple times from observation and only then set to paint it using a still image for reference.]]>
